Well…There is something very inspiring in those words, and that is how we, my mom-Jennifer, my sister-Alanna, and myself-Alissa, all dared to imagine the big dream of starting a business together.
After years of planning, we got caught up in a business idea that has taken our lives down a path we never could have planned for. With a little magic, a lot of hard work, and help from some very special people, our dream became reality and Picasso & Wine was born.
It all began many years ago in a tiny Colorado town where the cows outnumber the people, and the folks are friendly. Alanna and I were raised in a down-to-earth, hard-working family. Our parents, Jennifer and Sam worked in the family drilling business, till one day they decided it was time to strike out on their own. They packed up the kids, dogs and everything they could fit in a truck and head out west to Minden, Nevada. Following in the family tradition they started their own drilling company, and have since ran many successful businesses. They taught us girls a lot about hard work and passed the entrepreneurial gene to us.
Mom was always creating something…she painted, sewed costumes and clothes for us, and could always figure out how to make everything look just so-so! She passed her artistic flair to me at a very young age. My childhood love of drawing and coloring expanded into a passion for painting, which led to me attending art school in Denver, CO. Alanna, chose a different path. She pursued a career in the bar & restaurant business. She began to learn about the growing wine industry, and became very passionate and knowledgeable in the field.
Over the years, my sister and I enjoyed our professional careers, learned a lot of valuable lessons, gained a lot of experience…but, we always knew that there was something bigger waiting for us out in the world. We just had to imagine it… Boundless determination and big-time dreams brought Alanna, mom, and me together as Picasso & Wine and the rest is history!
